Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

It comes down to marketing (both shampoos and conditioners can be made clear or opaque). There are many opaque shampoos (think Head and Shoulders) and a few clear conditioners. There is also some reasoning in the core ingredients. Shampoos remove oil and typically rely on detergents (sodium laurel or sodium laureth sulfates), while conditioners replace moisture and often rely on opaque oils. Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
So you can tell the difference between the two...otherwise the companies won't make as much money! Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
Because shampoo is like soap, so that you can wash out your hair (it reminds you of body wash), and conditioner uses oils and stuff and is more creamy. It is not meant to wash out your hair, but to condition it and make it more texturized.
so that you can see through it.
my shampoo isn't clear

  • Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

Not all shampoo is clear, but I guess if they WERE different, it's because conditioner has more stuff in it. After all, shampoo is to clean your hair, why would you want to put a whole bunch of crap in it. As for that girl who said her shampoo isn't clear, it's probably conditioning shampoo. Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
Depends On What Kind You Get And If Its Shampoo And Conditoner Mixed To Gather? Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
My shampoo's not clear... maybe because one is soap based and the other is .... lotion based?
Because shampoo is ';cleaner'; (it cleans the hair, whereas conditioner conditions and is usually darker or ';dirtier';)

    haha... I don't know!
    My shampoo isn't clear.
    the way they make it
One's soap and the other is lotion.
    u can buy clear conditioner
Because conditioner has moisturizer in it and the moisturizer has particles in it that allow colors
My shampoo isn't clear either. Pantene Pro-v for brunettes is strictly a shampoo and it is a brown color.

Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

Shampoo is for taking the oil out. Conditioner puts it back in. Kind of silly isn't it.Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
This is so you can tell which is which if the bottle has no label

Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

depends which shampoo/conditioner you're using. ^^Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
Shampoo is meant to rinse out completely. Conditioner needs to leave something on your hair to condition it. That ';something'; is a kind of a film and therefore can't be clear. Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
have you ever heard of conditioner being called cream rinse? It's because it's color as well as texture is creamy to make hair smoother. shampoo is to glycerine soap as cream rinse is to body lotion.
Um...because they're two different things, and they're made of different ingredients.

Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

shampoo is more like a soap for your hair.

conditioner puts an invisible coat on your hair.

maybe thats why. i dont know if it makes sence or not. lol.

x33Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
yes this seems to be true...shampoo can be clear if it is clarifying or a gel like substance...sometimes a conditioner can be clear if it mostly protein...such as emergencee its a clear like substance used on the hair prior to shampooing...it adds strength to the hair to allow it to grow and not to break off......most conditioners are usually kind of thick so they are usually white or another colorWhy is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
thats a tough one, they are the exact same thing. oh wait they arent.
shampoo cleans, and the conditioner sticks to your hair to make it smooth

RINSE until it runs clear, than use conditoner!!QUICK . It is in my hair. Do I shampoo out semi-perminent color or just rinse until it is clear?
rinse until it runs clear - NEVER shampoo your hair straight after putting dye in - you must wait at least 36 hours!

But do use the conditioner that's provided straight away.
    condition, dont shampoo
well if you want to keep the color then just rinse till clear, if not shampoo.
Just rinse it out with water.
You should have instructions in the box.... otherwise you'd be asking what to do with all the contents, how long to leave it on for, etc....

Rinse it out till it runs clear then use the conditioner that's provided and style as per usual.
neither, you shave your head like Britney Spears.
Rinse til its clear, shampooing will fade it very quickly and would be detrimental to even coloring it to begin with. A good deep conditioner would be great right now since the folicles on your hair are open from the coloring. Good luck, and grats on your new color!
    shampoo!
    Rinse until it's clear!

Oh and then use the conditioner that came with it (most likely) and let it sit in your hair for a few minutes and then rinse again!

    Good luck!

    :)
