Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?

It comes down to marketing (both shampoos and conditioners can be made clear or opaque). There are many opaque shampoos (think Head and Shoulders) and a few clear conditioners. There is also some reasoning in the core ingredients. Shampoos remove oil and typically rely on detergents (sodium laurel or sodium laureth sulfates), while conditioners replace moisture and often rely on opaque oils. Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
So you can tell the difference between the two...otherwise the companies won't make as much money! Why is shampoo clear but conditioner not?
Because shampoo is like soap, so that you can wash out your hair (it reminds you of body wash), and conditioner uses oils and stuff and is more creamy. It is not meant to wash out your hair, but to condition it and make it more texturized.
so that you can see through it.
