Why is shampoo mostly clear but conditioner not?

Just wondering. Why is shampoo mostly clear but conditioner not?
shampoo's contain cleaning agents, and is basically a soap for your hair. (most liquid soaps are clear) Conditioners contain things like mayonnaise, eggs and other things that make your hair soft. Why is shampoo mostly clear but conditioner not?
i'll tell you right now, conditioners dont have eggs or mayonaise in them, i study the ingredient lables on them.

But as one of answers state, it's because shampoo is used as a soap for your hair and does nothing to condition it, you use it to get all the dirt and grime out of it.

conditioner is opaque because most have a cream base usually nowadays with like vitamins or minerals in it to help strengthen and protect
Well, if it's a good shampoo it won't be clear. Clear shampoos do nothing for your hair. But conditioners aren't clear, because they actually contain ingredients that help soften the hair.
Well, I think it is because they are opposites to each other. The shampoo is basic and the conditioner is acidic.
